About
8:30am Hunt Retriever Group (Spaniels & HPRs) – Intermediate Level
This welcoming, ad hoc training group is ideal for spaniels and hunt-point-retrieve breeds (HPRs) who have a solid retrieve, reliable recall, respond to the stop cue, and are confident in working environments.
You’ll be joining a group of our regular clients who attend these sessions to maintain and advance their dogs’ gundog skills in a supportive, relaxed atmosphere. Each class is booked individually – there's no need to commit to a full course or block of dates.
We’ll be focusing on hunting and flushing exercises using dummy launchers and other equipment, and we may also incorporate cold game where appropriate. These sessions are designed to be flexible and engaging, offering real-world training in a controlled environment.
Shot confidence: Dogs attending should be comfortable around shot. However, we can introduce shot to dogs gradually as part of their development. This will not be done on a dog’s first visit to the group. Please let us know if your dog has not experienced shot before so we can tailor the session accordingly.
Session length: Each session runs for three and a half hours, beginning at 8:30am. You're not required to stay for the full duration – the longer format allows for a calm, well-paced experience where dogs can practise settling, self-regulation, and working around distractions.
Location: Usually held at Bitchet Green, although the venue may occasionally change depending on the training plan or ground conditions. You'll be notified in advance if there's a change.
We also have three GPS trackers available for added peace of mind – just select this option in the add-ons when booking.
Please come prepared with a snack and a drink, and anything else you or your dog might need to stay comfortable during the morning.
